Who We Are

The Gold Club, owing to bad practices by a few, decided to put this website together to help safeguard the future of the hobby by providing responsible information for land owners, game keepers and farmers on what we do. Our aim is to work with land owners by taking into consideration the wider implications and privileges that go with having access to land. We do this by:

  • Seeking permission from land owners and those who have rights to the gold for access to rivers and burns.

  • Working with land owners to prevent damage to their land.

  • Listening to and addressing where possible any concerns land owners may have about our hobby.

  • Keeping exclusive panning locations confidential.

  • Following the key principles of the outdoor access code, namely respect for the interests of other people, care for the environment and taking responsibility for our actions.

We are happy to meet with and address land owners’ concerns as well as setting out any general rules land owners may have in relation to granting access to their land. Typically these can include seasonal limitations to access at certain times during the year, requirements to ensure damage is not incurred and ensuring panning is conducted in a satisfactory manner to all parties.
